Administrative History William Ogilvie was born in 1736 in Moray. He graduated MA at King's College, Aberdeen, in 1759, and, following a period as a schoolmaster, and sessions at Glasgow and Edinburgh, was Regent of King's College from 1764, and Professor of Moral Philosophy from 1762 to 1765. In that year, reorganisation led to the exchange of his chair with that of Humanity. He remained in post until ill health forced his resignation in 1817. He died in 1819.
Description Retentis papers; relating to the career of Professor William Ogilvie 1784-1787; Petition and protest against the sale of land at under it's valuation, inaccuracies in the College minutes, improper college business and the response of the college. Papers are labelled 'Copy of papers ordered by the college meeting to be kept in retentis'.
